“3D Printing for Liver Tissue Engineering…” published in Current Transplantation Reports

Shah Lab BME Ph.D. candidate Phillip Lewis reviews the current state-of-the-art of liver tissue engineering strategies utilizing 3D printing. Of particular emphasis are limitations in current approaches as they pertain to liver morphological and functional complexity. This review also points to necessary optimizations in not only 3D-printable biomaterial design, but also in the development of methods needed to assess engineered liver tissue architecture and capacity to restore hepatic function.
